'SEEING OURSELVES SENSING'

‘Seeing Ourselves Sensing’ is an auto-critical statement. An exploration of both Raluca Soaita and Andrei Breahna in their quest to build a visual identity for their gallery.
The 18 exhibitions and interventions facilitated by EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS in the gallery and in the public space have brought Romanian and international artists into spotlight, all bearing different practices and positioning. Not having a curatorial intent, the current exhibition is nothing more than the analysis of this state of things. It is nonetheless the first time both gallery partners get directly involved in the selection of works and the exhibition set-up.
This public showing is the way Raluca Soaita and Andrei Breahna responsibly position themselves as related to the artists hosted by their gallery. The constant presence of video in the public space, the American-school photo, the drawing, the installation, the performance, the animation – they all have shaped a certain artist / intellectual profile in the gallery space, one bearing various practices, which EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS is supporting and developing.
The exhibition is a coherent and clear discourse about the gallerist/artist relationship, about the exhibition space and the challenges raised by certain works that one feels connected to.

‘Seeing Ourselves Sensing’ este un statement autocritic. O explorare a
demersului Ralucăi Şoaita şi al lui Andrei Breahnă în construcţia identităţii vizuale pentru galeria lor.
Cele 18 expoziţii şi intervenţii realizate de EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS în spaţiul galeriei cât şi
în spaţiul public au adus în discuţie artişti români, dar şi
artişti internaţionali, cu practici şi poziţionări diferite. Fără a avea o
intenţie curatorială, această expoziţie reprezintă analiza acestei stări.
Este de altfel pentru prima dată când cei doi parteneri ai galeriei se implică direct în selectarea
lucrărilor şi în construcţia expoziţiei.
Această expoziţie este o formulă pentru iniţiatorii galeriei de a se
poziţiona responsabil faţă de artiştii galeriei lor. Prezenţa
constantă a video-ului în spaţiul public, fotografia de şcoală americană,
desenul, instalaţia, performance-ul, animaţia au conturat prezenţa în spaţiul galeriei a
unui anumit profil de artist/ intelectual cu practici pe care EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS încearcă să le susţină şi să le dezvolte.
Expoziţia este un discurs coerent şi clar despre relaţia galerist/artist, despre spaţiul de expunere şi despre provocarea unor lucrări pe care le simţi foarte aproape.
